The Spiritual Journey
All of us are spiritual beings and as such we often find ourselves asking questions about this life and the next.  As we seek answers to the questions of meaning, good and evil, God, love, and eternity we begin a journey.  Each of us is at a different place in the journey depending on when we started and how quickly we have pursued the answers.  In this journey there are milestones that both challenge and encourage us.  At these milestones we find ourselves at a place of decision as to whether to continue the journey or go back.  It is our hope at Crossway to partner with each other so we all keep moving forward in the journey.

There are many milestones in the spiritual journey and probably the most significant is when we pass over from being a seeker/skeptic to a believer.  The transition is a place of decision and Christians refer to it by several terms: conversion, being born again, salvation, etc.  This is a massive spiritual event that reconnects us with God in the way he originally intended.  It is also a radical catalyst for spiritual growth.  This most important milestone is marked by a public celebration where the new believer exhibits their new beliefs through the act of baptism.  Baptism is the public moment that puts faith, commitment, and God’s work on display.  It is the visible marker of having reached the milestone of salvation.  Baptism does not mark the end of the journey, but the beginning of a brand new one.

There are parts of coming to Christ that make us uncomfortable. We must come to terms with our own selfishness, sinfulness, and rebellion.  Yet, we more clearly see a God who loves us, provides for us, and welcomes us back to a right relationship with him.  In fact, he spared no expense to make our reconciliation possible.  This wholeness of spirit and peace of mind are ours for the asking.  We simply must believe.

If you are near this point in your spiritual journey we encourage you to consider following Christ.  We will not tell you it is an easy decision, but it is the best one you will ever make.

While it is not an easy decision, we at Crossway are committed to encouraging you to ask questions and seek answers that will help you pursue this liberating relationship with Christ.  We will never coerce anyone to make the decision and we will continue to walk with you regardless of where you find yourself in the journey.
